The story behind the coin
The source identifies this paired coin photograph as the 1927 Republic of China memento yuan. A left-facing portrait occupies the front, with Chinese inscriptions and floral decoration around the border. The reverse places 壹圓 between branches inside a beaded circle, with MEMENTO and BIRTH OF REPUBLIC OF CHINA around the rim. The year is the source’s issue attribution, not a date stamped visibly on either face.
