The story behind the coin
This paired photograph shows a right-facing portrait with the legend WILLIAM IIII, KING. The reverse has EAST INDIA COMPANY around the rim, ONE RUPEE and a Persian denomination inside a wreath, and 1835 below. The source identifies the specimen as a Calcutta Mint issue with the small R.S. initials below the portrait. Both sides are cropped from the same source photograph.
