The story behind the coin
The photographed coin pairs Pedro II with the imperial Brazilian arms: a crowned shield, an armillary-sphere motif and surrounding branches. The portrait side carries the date 1888, while the reverse places the denomination below the arms. This is a historical imperial design, with the silver-gray wear of the actual photographed specimen.
