The story behind the coin
These photographs show the older Helvetia type: a left-facing portrait with LIBERTAS on the headband, paired with a Swiss-cross shield under a star. The reverse visibly reads 20 FR and 1896. Source filenames reverse the obverse/reverse terminology, so this site assigns Heads to the portrait and Tails to the dated denomination using the images themselves.
Which side is heads?
- Heads
- Helvetia facing left, LIBERTAS on the headband and CONFŒDERATIO HELVETICA around the rim.
- Tails
- A Swiss-cross shield, a star, wreath, 20 FR and the date 1896.
A different coin. The same fair toss.
The artwork changes, but every virtual toss still has a 50/50 chance of heads or tails. We simulate the movement; the result is chosen independently. This is not a simulation of the physical balance of a historical coin.
