The story behind the coin
The source filename says 1870, but the photographed coin reads AMADEO I REY DE ESPAÑA and 1871. We identify it by those visible details, consistent with the Amadeo I five-peseta type recorded in Spain’s museum collections. The small star date is not resolved here, so 1871 identifies the main date on the design rather than a claimed exact striking year.
