The story behind the coin
The paired photograph is catalogued as a 1763 MF eight-reales issue of New Spain. One side carries the famous pillar design: two globes over waves between crowned columns, with VTRAQUE VNUM above. The opposite side shows the crowned royal shield and an 8. This design belongs to the historical New Spain issue.
