The story behind the coin
The source photograph shows the Mexican republican eagle above a cactus on one face. The other displays a liberty cap marked LIBERTAD, surrounded by rays, with UN PESO and the date 1903 below. The visible mint mark is Mo. This republican design provides a different historical chapter from the collection’s 1763 New Spain pillar dollar.
