The story behind the coin

This paired photograph shows the George III twopence catalogued as Spink 3776. The portrait faces right inside a broad rim carrying GEORGIUS III D G REX. The other face shows seated Britannia holding a branch and trident, with BRITANNIA above and 1797 below. Its wide rims and dark copper surface distinguish it from the modern decimal penny in this collection. Both sides preserve the source specimen’s wear and color.

A different coin. The same fair toss.

The artwork changes, but every virtual toss still has a 50/50 chance of heads or tails. We simulate the movement; the result is chosen independently. This is not a simulation of the physical balance of a historical coin.
